Earthquake Weather
Living in Southern California, there is always a chance that an earthquake may occur. This morning, with a dreary drizzle falling, under a heavy blanket of fog, there was a swaying motion lasting about 6 seconds. The air was quiet and I wasn't sure if it was imagination or an earthquake did just occur.
Going on the USGS website a few minutes later, I learned that a 5.6 earthquake struck east of Palm Springs, California.
I had recently returned from attending a funeral in Hawaii. The weather there was miserably humid and it rained at night, the cooling night air causing the heavy humidity to turn to rain. I was so happy to return to Southern California and it's "predictable" weather. I forgot about earthquakes.
I suppose hazards come with the territory reminding us humans of our mortality.
